It seems that growth hacking is becoming more and more popular. Since it has established itself as a buzzword, the haters just have to embrace and accept it. I personally like to read about strategies and tactics used by growth hackers. They surely do have a brilliant mind.
I put up a list of 7 tactics that will basically work for any growth hack you might think of. A good strategy needs even better tactics. Let’s see what are my favorite ones.
1. Create awesome content and make it shareable
Yes, content is king, even though you’re probably sick of hearing this. I am too, believe me. Create a blog for your company’s website, and think about what kind of content your customers would find useful. Do a little bit of research and see what are the trending topics. Creating images, videos, infographics can help a lot too. Add social media widgets to your website, so people can share your awesome content, like, comment or recommend it to others.
2. Guest Post
Growth hacking compiles several well thought tactics. Guest posting on other websites is a great idea, especially if the website you want to guest post on is a really popular one. A lot of them are constantly searching for people that have something new to share with their audience, so don’t be afraid to do so. It can also be a way through which you can establish yourself as a thought leader in your domain.
3. Refer a friend
This is a classic growth hacking tactic. Jon Yongfook talked about how he made a game that asked you to refer it to a friend, in order to move forward. At first, he thought that this tactic would annoy people, but as it turns out he got over 10 000 users in just 2 days. Amazing, right?
4. Use Google Adwords
You might find it weird how this can be a growth hacking tactic. I will tell you why it is. First, it’s great to use, especially by early stage startups. Second, you don’t need a big budget. Google Adwords are great because they can show you what is the language your potential customers speak in.
5. Optimize your website
ContentLook can help you with Blogging, Traffic, Social Media, SEO, Links and Authority. The actionable steps will show you exactly what you need to change, so that you make your site as friendly as possible. Also, did you know that loading time affects the conversion rate? Pay attention to that too. Your website needs to load instantly.
6. Thank your customers
This is such a great way to interact with your customers! “Thank you”s are very much appreciated. It doesn’t have to be something that will take you a lot of time. Instead, make it simple and cute. At Squirrly, we send thank you letters, too. Here is one happy customers sharing their letter on Twitter.
7. Reach out to influencers
If you can, it would be ideal to find out who the influencers are in your field of activity. Engage into a relationship with them, because they can be the first ones that will help you promote your company. A tool like Followerwonk can help you find influencers much easier, and it will also show you statistics referring to their social authority.
What growth hacking tactics do you think are the most effective?
There are many more tactics that one should use in growth hacking. It all depends on what you’re trying to sell. Or maybe you don’t want to sell anything.
Either way, I want to know, whether you’re a growth hacker or not, what are the most used tactics? Are there any specific ones that I did not mention that you recommend? Let me know in the comments.
