Learning means evolving. As humans, we grow through learning. And as digital marketers, staying up-to-date with the latest news, understanding trending strategies and constantly reshaping the way we approach things is as important as breathing.
If you don’t grow every day, your business will die.
But with so much information out there, it can be hard to separate the fluff from the stuff that is actually helpful. Some of the courses and resources are either outdated or lack quality information. Others are steeply priced, and you can only get a real sense of the type of information inside after you’ve bought the course.
So how do you find the best, latest, most insightful information that is actually worth your while and can help you enhance your digital marketing skillset? And how do you do it without breaking the bank?
In this article, I’m going to tell you what I do to learn digital marketing for free and share four programs that I found to be particularly helpful. Let’s jump right in!
It takes twelve minutes to boil an egg; around five minutes to answer an email, and roughly two minutes to properly brush your teeth.
You can’t do much in a minute, right? Which is why I love that Marketing Minute makes it easy to expand your digital marketing skillset via curated marketing hacks that take just one-minute or so to read.
How does this work? Well, it’s quite simple really.
You only have to sign up once, and as soon as you get accepted into the community, you will start receiving exclusive, curated digital marketing hacks right in your inbox twice a week. The program is completely free, but because it’s a private community, you need an invitation link to get in.
Luckily, since you’re a part of the Chief Content Community, you get a free-invite. Make sure to use it now, because the offer won’t be available forever.
What makes this program special is that it’s truly a place to get your next best marketing idea!
And I love how the information is:
- Researched. A professional marketer is in charge of curating every hack, case study or experiment you’ll get. Everything is handpicked, so the research part is all taken care of. All you have to do is implement.
- Packaged. These hacks are super short but packed with new information. It’s like an expresso for your digital marketing brain. You can learn something awesome and super clever in under a minute. You get quality, not quantity.
- Delivered. You won’t have to leave your inbox to get your dose of new knowledge.
Plus, you’ll get fresh information about a variety of topics such as SEO, Email Marketing, Social Media, Content Creation, Content Strategy and Sales.
- Easy Hacks that you can implement in five steps or less;
- Proven strategies to get more leads;
- Successful experiments backed up by data;
- The latest industry insights.
And much more.
The reason I love this app is that I can actually feel productive while I’m on my phone (as opposed to just looking at outfits on Instagram).
Through the free Primer app, you get access to bite-sized lessons that you can enjoy on-the-go, even in areas with no Internet connection (Primer works offline as well). Whenever you have five minutes, you can go through a lesson and learn something new to better your business.
You get to select from a wide variety of topics meant to help you build your business and marketing skills, such as:
- Business Planning
- Customer Engagement
- Mobile Marketing
- Social Media
All you have to do to get started is to download the app and choose the skills that match your goals. The app will show you the right lessons right away. Another thing I like is that you can track the progress you’ve made within the app and update your goals anytime inside your profile.
But my favorite thing about using the app is how interactive it can be; the way it’s designed makes you feel like you’re actually working with the app to grow your knowledge, as opposed to just reading off a screen.
Plus, after completing a lesson, you will receive a summary of its content so that you can have another look at the main ideas from the lesson. I found that this really helps the information sink in. You’ll also get personalized next steps after each course so that you can start implementing what you’ve learned right away.
I definitely recommend giving this one a go if you have a busy schedule and are looking for a simple yet powerful way to sharpen your skills.
Digital Marketing is powerful. But do you have the right knowledge to use it at its full potential?
Sure, you can get lots of information about everything online. But I know many of you struggle to find the good stuff, the valuable information. A lot of the articles out there strike me as sharing nothing more than the same regurgitated information over and over again.
I like the Education Cloud from Squirrly because it’s different. It’s a place where marketers can come to grow; a digital library packed with actionable, well-structured content.
This is not the first time I’ve mentioned Squirrly on this site. But for those who are new, Squirrly is a company that builds digital marketing software, one of their star products being Squirrly SEO – a leading plugin for WordPress (you can read this article to see how you can get a great deal for it).
Why do I think their training programs are awesome?
It’s because SEO and marketing are what these people do on a day-to-day basis – not just write about based on stuff they scrape up online.
Inside the Education Cloud community, I know I’m getting insight from qualified people who actually have experience in this field; SEOs and marketers who’ve put in the work to be able to teach others.
Their main focus is on SEO and Content Marketing, but the training materials you will be able to access within the community go beyond that. So far, there are 6 Modules inside the Education Cloud – all of which contain six lessons.
These are all modules that you can access for FREE if you sign up:
- Module 1: SEO for Search Engine Bots
- Module 2: SEO for Humans
- Module 3: Generating Ideas to Implement Continuous Blogging
- Module 4: Your First 10,000 Visits from Social Media
- Module 5: Conversion Rate Optimization. Less Traffic, More Customers
- Module 6: Special Training from Squirrly (full lessons coming soon)
Plus, I’ve noticed that they are always working to improve and update the lessons so that they are relevant to how SEO and digital marketing in general work today. Some of the modules inside the Education Cloud have been reviewed 5 times so far. And new lessons are being added regularly.
You will only be able to access these lessons if you sign up here. I recommend you at least give it a try. There are 36 great lessons waiting for you!
Podcasts are all the hype these days. And I get why. Podcasts are insanely convenient and represent a fantastic resource to help you gain further insight into digital marketing.
But which podcasts? That’s the question.
Sure, there are plenty of podcasts to choose from, but one that I’ve found myself binging on is one created and hosted by Russel Bronson.
In case you didn’t already know this, Russel Bronson is a world-famous internet marketer and the co-founder of one of the largest funnel creation software, ClickFunnels. The Marketing Secrets Show podcast is a way to peek into his mind. During his podcasts, he talks about his biggest “a-ha moments” that shaped his journey so far.
He also shares his top marketing secrets to growing a business from $0 to $100,000,000 in just three years, with no outside capital.
(Now You Know) Learn Online Marketing for Free and Build Your Digital Marketing Skillset
The online education programs I’ve included in this article have definitely helped me get inspired at times when I felt stuck. They’ve helped me expand my level of awareness in terms of marketing – and gave me lots of new topics to talk about with fellow marketers and sound smart.
And I’m confident that they can do the same for you. So, I hope you’re going to consider giving them a try. If you do, I’d love it if you checked back in and share how the programs are working out for you.
